Rob
Davies worked as a professional geologist in Antarctica and Australia
before joining the City as a mining analyst. During his 15 years he worked
for a number of brokers and investment banks including Smith New Court,
Shearson Lehman Hutton and ING Barings. He was a speaker at the Financial
Times Gold Conference in 1997 and worked on a number of capital market
transactions in the mining industry. From 1999 to 2001 he was a writer
at The Motley Fool and co-wrote “The Old Fools Guide to Retirement”.
In 2002 he joined the Private Client Department of Clydesdale Bank as
Senior Investment Analyst where he was responsible for writing and maintaining
investment policy, selecting securities and portfolio creation until
the department was sold in 2006. His experience of the stock market as
an equity research analyst, personal finance writer and portfolio construction
manager has given him a unique background to draw on in crafting this
investment process which he now runs as The Fund Manager of The Munro
Fund.
Matt
Christensen is the Executive Director for Eurosif, the European Social
Investment Forum. Eurosif’s mission is to Address Sustainability
Issues through Financial Markets. The key benefits that Eurosif members
receive include EU lobbying, SRI information and European wide initiatives
that integrate SRI and Corporate Governance issues into the financial
services sector.
Matt has an international background in consultancy and operational management and was a strategy consultant with Braxton Associates (now a division of Deloitte & Touche) for five years. Prior to his current position with Eurosif, he was the European Development Director for the UK-based Motley Fool. The Motley Fool has successfully grown from a venture capital funded start-up to a profitable business. An advisor to a number of institutions in Europe, Matt holds an MA from the University of Pennsylvania in International Political Economy and an MBA from the Wharton School.
Non-Executive Chairman
Henry Lafferty MSc FCMA, is Chairman of City of London Group plc, the holding company of FTIM. He is also an executive director of InvestSelect PLC, an investment and management services business, and a non-executive director of a number of other companies.
Having qualified as an accountant in the glass industry, Henry spent the major part of his early career with NFC plc (now part of Deutsche Post), including five years as Finance Director and four years as Managing Director of its property arm, Hyperion Properties PLC. During this period, NFC moved from the public sector to the private sector and on to the London Stock Exchange.
Henry completed the Sloan Fellowship Masters Programme at London Business School prior to joining Jarvis plc in 1994 as Group Finance Director and Chairman of Jarvis Projects (the PFI/PPP arm). He left the Jarvis plc board in 2001 and in the same year was appointed Chief Executive of PatientFirst Partnerships Limited (now part of CareCapital PLC), a business formed to provide serviced accommodation to the primary healthcare sector, which he left in 2004 to form InvestSelect PLC. He qualified as a chartered management accountant in 1976.
Non-Executive Director
MIPR, Chairman and Managing Director, John Greenhalgh founded
City of London PR in the 1970s, after an early career in financial and
general journalism on three national newspapers. Before setting up City
of London PR he created the financial public relations division of the
Exchange Telegraph Company, the UK news wire service.
John Greenhalgh, NED. has more than 25 years investment experience and is responsible for COLG's portfolio management which has shown outstanding performance over many years. A stockpicker, he specialises in the Australian market, particularly the mining and oil sectors, as well as selective UK, U.S. and Australian blue chips including convertibles.
Non-Executive Director
Eric is a Chartered Accountant with a strong City reputation. He is currently CEO of City Of London Group plc, an investment group based in the City. He is also a Non-Executive Director with The Financial Reporting Council, as well as with Insight, the UK institutional asset management arm of Bank of New York Mellon; and Paypoint plc. He also serves as a member of The Takeover Panel Appeals Board.
His past Non-Executive positions have included Chairman of Mansell plc, SSL International plc and Severn Trent plc, where he was Chairman of the Treasury and Audit Committees.
Until the end of 2006 he was Chief Executive of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales; prior to which his executive positions included Chairman and CEO of Old Mutual Financial Services plc. He has been CFO of three FTSE 100 companies, Old Mutual plc, The Energy Group plc and Eastern Electricity plc.
His early career included a period of 10 years as a partner with Ernst & Young and a 3 year secondment to HM Treasury.
He is a corporate development specialist with a background in Government, the City and Industry. Currently Chairman of two private equity firms and a Non-Executive Director of TTT Moneycorp Ltd, the foreign exchange business. John has led strategy and corporate finance/development for three FTSE 100 groups in the energy and financial services sectors. More recently he has been acting as a corporate development consultant, advising companies such as Close Bros, Filtronic plc. and Aga Rangemaster Group plc. His earlier career as a “fast stream” civil servant in DTI/Treasury included the initial privatization programme.
This was followed by a successful spell in Lloyds Merchant Bank, where he became a main board director and the largest fee generator during the early 1990s.
David graduated from Strathclyde University
in June 2007 with an honours degree in Finance with distinction. His
degree dissertation was on “Information Transmission across Global
Markets” which used GARCH models to analyse contagion and price
volatility transmissions between major global markets. He joined
Fundamental Tracker Investment Management on his graduation and passed
his Investment Manager’s Certificate exam shortly after. He is
authorised by the FSA to perform control function CF 30 and is the deputy
fund manager of The Munro Fund.
